Sue Melton

Sue McCallum Melton has been creating clay art actively for over a decade after retiring from public school teaching.  She is honored to have received several awards and scholarships. She and her husband moved to Gunter, Texas in 2021, where she was able to build her own ceramics studio. Sue's grandmother was an artist and has always been an inspiration. Chris Gray, Jason Hyde, Jillian Cooper, Jen Rose, Melba Northum and Kristin Erickson have been her excellent teachers. Sue enjoys the challenges of wheel throwing, hand building, sculpture, and combining the techniques. Her work has been described as whimsical, thought provoking, and fun, and she strives for it to appear organically clean, creating both functional and decor pieces.
