Patty Streber
Having grown up in western NY state, my husband & I have been married for 53 years. We made several corporate moves with our 3 sons and have spent 25 years in Texas, always keeping our close ties with Cape Cod, MA. Wishful Thinking Jewelry began in 2001, when I was beading designs with SwarovskiTM crystal and sterling silver. By 2005, I was incorporating the use of precious metal clay in my pieces and it was then that I knew I wanted to devote all my attention to working with silver as my main medium. From 2010 to 2021, I owned Wishful Thinking gift boutique at 4 different locations on the McKinney square. My dream was to be able to include my jewelry as one of my offerings, however, the demands of the retail side of the business made it impossible to devote the time to design & create it. In my spare time, I would take classes, watch tutorials and study various techniques in metal smithing. I closed my boutique in 2021 and spent the remainder of Covid lockdown, working to expand the tools & equipment in my home studio & applying the knowledge I had gained to the whole new world of forging the metals I work with today. I love to create one-of-a-kind pieces that evolve from whatever the melted silver gives me. I lean towards smaller scale, simple, natural shapes combining sterling silver and gold-filled metals with genuine stone, pearls, leather and crystal. I love the artisan look & feel of texture, shiny patina, and even a bit of sparkle! My studio is at our sister store, Rosas and Lavanda, also on the McKinney square. When I’m not up north, gaining inspiration from the Cape, I try to be in the shop most days. I feel so blessed to be part of such a talented, kind and generous group of artisans at MAG. I love visiting with customers and, when given the opportunity, I’m always happy to answer questions about my jewelry or explain whatever I’m working on at the time. I’m incredibly proud of our Gallery’s presence on the square and extremely grateful for the support of our local community.
